“Why is the project behind plan?”
In a live analysis, explanations should be grounded in calculated project data and linked back to affected activities and WBS.

Reading the project-controls dashboard correctly

The project controls dashboard brings schedule, progress and earned value indicators into one decision-focused view. Planned progress is calculated from planned value divided by budget at completion, while actual or earned progress is based on validated project data. Schedule Performance Index is earned value divided by planned value, and Cost Performance Index is earned value divided by actual cost.

These indicators are most useful when read together. A single SPI or CPI value does not explain the cause of a variance. Brainbay therefore connects headline metrics to WBS performance, critical activities, float, constraints, open ends, forecast dates and trend information. The result is a clearer route from a management question to the supporting schedule data.

Explore the platform workflow, compare available analysis plans, or upload data in the project analyzer. The calculation approach follows the principles in the PMI Earned Value Management standard.
